bird flu update
You're not seeing things. You may have forgotten about Bird Flu, but I have not. I remain convinced that this will be a global pandemic and I renew my commitment to you, the uncaring masses, to keep the information flowing. According to this article there are probably 4 deaths in Nigeria caused by this vicious disease. Be afraid..be very afraid.

I'll be scared when I go to Nigeria, then. And 4 doesn't exactly describe an uncontrollable outbreak.
Any cases on THIS side of the ocean yet?

None yet, but it's only a matter of time.

My wife works in a local hospital as a nurse. At an in-service recently, the employees were told what types of life changing things were going to happen when the bird flu hits: no water or other utilities for weeks, no grocery stores would be open, no public gatherings allowed, marshall law with National Guard in haz suits patroling to enforce it, etc. Read the first part of the 2nd sentence again. Did you catch it? It was not 'if' or 'maybe if' the bird flu hits, it is WHEN the bird flu hits. The in-service was given by a CDC trained instructor. So, yes, be afraid, be very afraid!
