McKinzie Update - May 2008

I suggested we have this article because so much has happened in our lives lately. Besides updating you on Ana Grace, there are some things that I want to share—some happy, some sad. Thanks to any of you that pray for our families. It means so much, and we hope that we can bless your families as you bless ours.

First, Greg is a master! He officially walked and received his diploma along with some other goodies. I don’t mean for this to sound braggy, but I am sharing it because I am so proud of my husband. He earned an award for the highest GPA in his class and he received the “Jack P. Lewis Ministry of Study Award”--an award given to the student that takes the harder classes even if it means putting his GPA on the line. The program is typically finished in four years, but Greg finished in 3 years in order to get to the mission field. I wept when he received these awards because I personally know how hard it was to get through this season of our life together. Way to go sweetie!

This past week has been very eventful. Greg had all four wisdom teeth removed, battled poison ivy, and we received word that his grandmother passed away. Thanks to all of you that heard about the death and offered your words of love. We were able to go and celebrate the 92 years of life and faith that Mrs. Pauline Gregory lived on this earth. We visited with many of Greg’s family members and feel so blessed by the trip. Ana clung to her “Memaw” and got to meet many 2nd and 3rd cousins for the first time. Also, we have a new niece! My brother and sister-in-law (Nate and Jenni) have a new baby girl-- Ruby Katherine Bills. Ruby is my great-granny’s name and Katherine comes from a dear, sweet family friend in Memphis. Ana is so happy to have a fellow girl cousin on my side of the family now. Congratulations Nathan, Jenni and Sam!

Ana is a little over 14 months old now. She loves walking with someone helping her. She also loves to push her walker outside while the dog walks beside her. Swinging outside is a new favorite activity and she is still such a people person. We are loving seeing her little personality develop over time.

Well, that’s it. We are excited about the summer. Lots of plans to see family, say good-byes, and plan as a team. In less than 3 months we will be in Peru. I can hardly believe it.
