A few months ago we finally got a dining room table! This is big because we hadn’t had a dining room table since 2019! The last apartment we lived in didn't have room for a table; and then it took us a year after moving into our house to find one we liked.
To us the table is a sacred place. And we want our table to be a place where anyone is welcome and those that come to it feel loved. We wanted to have a blessing table.
About 9 years ago we visited one of my best friends Taylor Lee and her husband Neil. After eating dinner around their table they had us sign the bottom of their table. So, we give credit to them for this idea. Our family signed the bottom of our table with our handprints as if it were a new driveway poured in concrete. Then that Sunday we flipped the table on its side and asked our church family to write a blessing. Since then we have had any visitor that has come to our home sign our table, writing a blessing if they would. It is our guest book of blessings.
One of my favorites is from Liliana. It says,
“May God forever bless those who enjoy this table. And deliver us from every evil.”
So come visit, eat at our table, and leave a blessing for the next person.
