Family and Ministry Update - French, Kids Club, and Marriage Ministry

As we come to the end of this year we look back and reflect on how God has been working in our lives, in the lives of those around us and in our city. In October we completed 11 years in Peru! Of course every time we say that Adileen adds that she has only been in Peru 9 years and Kinney 6. 😊

Adileen and Kinney just completed fourth and first grade, respectively. The school year goes from March to December so here’s a picture of them on their last day of school!

This year was a really special year for them in making and deepening friendships at school. Adileen had a little group of friends that would celebrate friends day by sharing a small gift with each other every “12th” of the month. 🥰 We celebrated Kinney’s birthday early with some of his school friends. (Really early…his birthday is in January but we’ll be in the US so we wanted to celebrate with his friends.)

While the kids’ school has been a great place for them the past several years, we didn’t feel like it was somewhere that would be good long term so we began looking for new schools in September. While the decision was super hard because it meant pulling the kids away from their friends, we eventually decided to switch the kids to a new school beginning in February for the next school year. It is a French Peruvian school and 80% of the classes are taught in French soooo our whole family has begun learning French!! Oui oui! 🇫🇷 It will be a hard transition but we feel for now is the best move for our kids and so please be prayerful for this move for Adileen and Kinney!!

Over the last 6 months we held a Kids Club at our house once a month on a Sunday morning. The purpose was to get to know more friends and families from the kids’ school and to minister to them in some way. We would meet as a church a bit earlier than usual, and then start Kids Club around 10:30am. Each month we’d have between 11 and 25 kids. We would focus on one value each month and all activities, books, bible stories, and crafts would relate to the word of the month. Here are some pictures from the different Kids Clubs.

We have also just finished going through the 7-week Alpha Marriage course with several couples; a couple families from the church and a few that aren’t a part of our church. We see ministry to marriages as such a need here and so we try to find time at least once a year to offer this course to friends or anyone that wants to be a part of it.

Thank you for all the prayers you have prayed on our behalf over the last year. We are truly sustained by these prayers and look to God for our guidance and strength for the next year.
