CUDA Updates - 1st Quarter of 2016

The year is off to a great start! The new Living Library at an elementary school in the district of Miraflores has been inaugurated and is under way, and we continue working with three other schools. This year we’re working with 38 teachers and 694 kids and their families in four under-resourced schools across the city. Last year, our health team saw 1,000 patients, more than 100 of which were diabetics and 300+ who had a high risk of diabetes. We’re focusing this year on serving those who have joined our care and education for diabetics program—ProCED—as we continue to partner with the Hunter health center. We’re excited to share more developments throughout the year as together we plant kingdom seeds of justice, wellbeing, and joy in the city.

hank you so much for you thoughts, prayers, and financial contributions toward this work. It wouldn’t happen without you, and we can thank you for another year of being able to continue in this. Unlike relief work, development is a slow, arduous process where path to completing the long-term goal is not always easy to see.

Some of you contribute directly, with one-time donations and monthly donations through PayPal. You also buy Luminous Coffee, which is a way to drink delicious, fresh-roasted elixir of life while supporting coffee farmers in Southern Peru and CUDA development work. Whenever you buy on Amazon, and you start at, a small percentage of that purchase goes to CUDA.

We’re excited to announce that now, filling your pantry and your gas tank can support CUDA! We just became part of Kroger’s Community Rewards program, which lets you affiliate your Kroger Plus card with our non-profit so that a small percentage of your purchases Kroger donates to us. Here’s how it works:

  1. Log in or register your Kroger Plus card at
  2. On the My Account page, scroll to the bottom and click “Enroll” under Community Rewards
  3. Enter CUDA’s NPO number in the search field: 46944, and click to enroll!

For now, this will work in the central TN (think Nashville, Tullahoma for our Cedar Lane friends) and northern AL (Decatur, Huntsville, etc.) area. We’re working on rolling it out to more regions in the coming weeks.

Also, be on the lookout for our new CUDA website that’ll be launching soon. Here’s a sneak peek:

As always, thank you for your love and support, and your partnership in God’s mission wherever you are. Grace and peace.
